The United States and Sri Lankan military forces are currently conducting a joint training exercise in Sri Lanka. According to a statement issued by the United States Embassy in Colombo, the exercise code named "Balance Style," began in January and will continue through early March 2003.
"Balance Style" is the ninth consecutive joint training exercise between the two military forces and has become a tradition between the US and Sri Lanka. It seeks to foster relationships between the two countries that promote regional stability. During these annual exercises the two nations' forces train together and learn from each other about current military equipment and techniques. In this year's exercises Army and Navy participants from both nations will train side by side, concentrating on combined arms operations, medical techniques, military operations, and other skills.
