The Danish-sponsored orphanage, Sønderborg, in Sri Lanka has had its funds frozen by the Sri Lankan government.

The orphanage belongs to the aid organization TRO. And according to its website, the Sri Lankan Central Bank has asked several banks to freeze TRO's accounts, including the Danish-financed funds that were to go to the Tamil orphanage.

- This will have fatal consequences for the 100 children who live in the orphanage. There will be no money for food or medicine, says TRO's chairman in Denmark, Ananthan Ganagaratnam, and adds:

- We have contacted the Sri Lankan government, but they have no understanding of basic human rights. These children have nowhere to go. They lost both home and family after the tsunami, he says.
